Inter-planting is very okay for beans with maize. However, soybean is very sensitive to shading as a result inter-planting may be detrimental to obtaining high yields. Soybean can be planted well in strip cropping. Research is still underway to identify proper planting patterns which can result in high productivity in strip cropping.
