Kenya is experiencing a period of severe drought that has seen several places having water rationing programmes. There are reports that even the rivers are drying up a situation that is causing panic to both the public and private sectors. The most affected are the smallholder farmers who depend on rainfed agriculture which is entirely a weather based practice with rainfall being the key element. There is a call to mobilize resources from farmers either individually or corporately to procure animal feeds and food stuff from counties with reserves as they brave to brace the current prevailing circumstances. This is a wake-up call to adopt innovations that wil help farmers accept irrigation farming as a mitigation and adaption measure
