Gender and nutrition is associated with the social attributes and opportunities related to meeting the nutritional demands associated with being a male or female due to their age, physical status, economic status, race, ethnicity etc.

In a household, various members play different roles in ensuring the nutritional status of the family; the various members of the household also have different levels of access and control of resources including determining the type of food consumed, the quantities prepared, how it is prepared and when the meals are served.  The beliefs and cultural attributes also play a key role on meeting the nutritional demands of the various members of the households.   I hope this answers your question.
