Yield may vary depending on quantity of inputs, crop establishment, weather and country due to difference in altitude and prevailing weather conditions. Possible yield for Malawi are:

Burley tobacco

  1. 680kgs/acre - for field with full inputs and good crop establishment and vigour
  2. 500kgs/acre - limited inputs, good crop establishment, moderate vigour.
  3. 300kgs/acre- limited inputs, drought stricken, sparingly established

Flue cured (for conditions same as above)

  1. 800 kgs/acre
  2. 700kgs/acre
  3. 500kgs/acre, respectively.

Fertilizer requirement(full inputs)

Burley - 6 bags/acre

Flue Cured - 4.5 bags/acre
